Treatment travel costs & coordination fees
Ask clearer questions about treatment, coordination and the costs of your stay.

What to know
Three practical cost groups
Treatment is quoted or billed by the healthcare provider. RAUQ coordination has an agreed service scope. Travel and living costs may include transport, accommodation, meals, companions and insurance. A total estimate needs each group to be considered.
Read the basis of each quotation
Check the currency, unit, duration, included services, exclusions, taxes, deposits, payment recipient and cancellation terms. Ask how a change in treatment, length of stay or support needs would affect the estimate.
Confirm payer approval
Insurance or institutional payment requires case-specific confirmation. Do not assume that a coordination fee, companion stay, translation or an extended stay is covered by a treatment authorization.
A typical list of cost items
Use this list to check that every estimate you receive covers the whole stay.
- Provider
- Consultations, tests, treatment, hospital days, implants or medicines, and optional services such as a single room.
- Coordination
- RAUQ’s agreed scope, quoted separately.
- Language
- Interpreting per appointment or hour; translation per document or page.
- Travel and stay
- Flights, visas, insurance, accommodation, meals and local transport for everyone travelling.
- A reserve
- Treatment plans and stays can change. Keep a reserve for extra nights, tests or follow-up appointments.
Advance payments and final invoices
Providers commonly ask self-paying international patients for an advance based on the cost estimate. After treatment they issue a final invoice and settle it against the advance. Keep every receipt and bank confirmation until the final invoice is settled.
Questions to ask
- Is this a binding price or an estimate, and how long is it valid?
- Who receives the payment, and in which currency?
- What is refunded if the treatment is cancelled or shortened?
- How does the cost change if a complication extends the stay?
