Family history, consent and result interpretation.

Before your appointment
Prepare a family history and previous genetic reports. Discuss consent, possible uncertain findings and whether relatives could be affected.
Time, hospital stay & appointments
Times are planning guides, not national averages or guaranteed schedules. They reflect published provider examples and patient guidance. The treating team confirms the individual plan, time needed near the clinic and fitness to travel. Waiting lists are not included.
- Procedure or course duration
- Consultation length and laboratory turnaround depend on the question and test.
- Hospital stay
- Usually outpatient; the assessment can span more than one discipline or appointment. Admission is only arranged if clinically needed.
- Visits and repeat attendance
- Begin with one assessment appointment. Further tests, counselling or a results review may be separate; the service should confirm which steps require attendance.
- Recovery and travel planning
- Testing is a separate decision after counselling. Arrange a results discussion and clarify which family members may benefit from further advice.
Sources & finding a provider

The specialty directories below help you research providers in each country; they do not confirm this procedure at every centre. The receiving service confirms eligibility, availability and international-patient acceptance. Procedure-specific clinical references are listed separately.
