Biopsy histopathology

- Clinical name
- Histopathological examination of biopsy tissue
- German
- Histopathologische Untersuchung von Biopsiematerial
- Czech
- Histopatologické vyšetření bioptického materiálu
A pathologist examines tissue collected during a biopsy or operation. Microscopy and selected additional tests help classify disease; histopathology differs from routine blood testing and from cytology of individual cells.

Time, hospital stay & appointments
Times are planning guides, not national averages or guaranteed schedules. They reflect published provider examples and patient guidance. The treating team confirms the individual plan, time needed near the clinic and fitness to travel. Waiting lists are not included.
- Procedure or course duration
- Ask for the laboratory’s expected reporting date. Fixation, processing, extra stains and molecular tests can change turnaround; a rapid intraoperative opinion is not the final report.
- Hospital stay
- The laboratory examination itself does not require admission. Any stay is determined by the procedure used to obtain the tissue.
- Visits and repeat attendance
- The sampling procedure and a clinician-led results discussion are the key patient contacts. Existing tissue may be transferable for specialist review without repeating the biopsy, subject to the laboratory’s requirements.
- Recovery and travel planning
- Agree who receives the report and communicates the diagnosis. Transfer of slides or tissue blocks should be arranged between the relevant clinical services.
Sources & finding a provider
Editorial source check: 29 October 2026. This is educational information, not an individual clinical assessment.
These country-specific sources document the service or its clinical use; their inclusion does not indicate a RAUQ partnership. Case acceptance, appointment availability and payment arrangements require separate provider confirmation.
