Before your appointment

Bowel preparation is essential and starts before the appointment. Obtain individual instructions about laxatives, fluids, diabetes medicines and blood thinners.

Time, hospital stay & appointments

Times are planning guides, not national averages or guaranteed schedules. They reflect published provider examples and patient guidance. The treating team confirms the individual plan, time needed near the clinic and fitness to travel. Waiting lists are not included.

Procedure or course duration
NHS example: 30–45 minutes; allow around 2 hours at the hospital.
Hospital stay
Usually a day attendance with recovery or observation when needed. Sedation requires suitable transport and support afterwards.
Visits and repeat attendance
Plan one attendance for the test and a results discussion. The referral assessment and any repeat or additional tests may require separate visits; ask whether results can be discussed remotely.
Recovery and travel planning
Sedation requires an escort and activity restrictions. Ask about polyp or biopsy results and the service’s instructions for significant pain or bleeding.

Sources & finding a provider

The specialty directories below help you research providers in each country; they do not confirm this procedure at every centre. The receiving service confirms eligibility, availability and international-patient acceptance. Procedure-specific clinical references are listed separately.
