Diagnostic hysteroscopy
Obstetrics & gynecology · Planning care in Germany and Czechia
- Clinical name
- Diagnostic hysteroscopy, with endometrial biopsy when indicated
- German
- Diagnostische Hysteroskopie, ggf. Endometriumbiopsie
- Czech
- Diagnostická hysteroskopie, případně biopsie endometria
A thin camera passes through the cervix to examine the uterine cavity, for example when investigating abnormal bleeding. A biopsy or polyp removal may be proposed, with consent and appropriate pain relief.

Time, hospital stay & appointments
Times are planning guides, not national averages or guaranteed schedules. They reflect published provider examples and patient guidance. The treating team confirms the individual plan, time needed near the clinic and fitness to travel. Waiting lists are not included.
- Procedure or course duration
- NHS guidance gives 10–15 minutes for hysteroscopy, longer for sampling or removal. General anaesthesia requires additional preparation and recovery time.
- Hospital stay
- Often an outpatient or day-case procedure. Overnight admission may be needed with general anaesthesia or a more involved operation.
- Visits and repeat attendance
- Consultation, 1 procedure and a results review if tissue is sampled. A pre-anaesthetic appointment or a separate operative hysteroscopy may add visits.
- Recovery and travel planning
- Before the examination, discuss pain relief and your option to ask for the procedure to stop at any time. Confirm how biopsy results will be communicated and who to contact for significant pain, fever or heavy bleeding.
Sources & finding a provider

These country-specific sources document the service or its clinical use; their inclusion does not indicate a RAUQ partnership. Case acceptance, appointment availability and payment arrangements require separate provider confirmation.
