Before your appointment

The team checks kidney function, contrast history and medicines. Clarify whether consent covers diagnostic imaging alone or possible treatment.

Time, hospital stay & appointments

Times are planning guides, not national averages or guaranteed schedules. They reflect published provider examples and patient guidance. The treating team confirms the individual plan, time needed near the clinic and fitness to travel. Waiting lists are not included.

Procedure or course duration
Duration depends on diagnostic complexity and whether an intervention is added.
Hospital stay
A monitored hospital attendance, sometimes with an overnight stay. The access route, treatment extent and clinical stability determine discharge.
Visits and repeat attendance
Plan for preoperative assessment, one operation attendance or admission, and postoperative review. These are three planning stages, not a guaranteed total of three visits: tests, wound care or staged treatment may add appointments.
Recovery and travel planning
Observation and wrist or groin care follow the catheter procedure. Ask about activity limits, results and whether further treatment requires another visit.

Sources & finding a provider

Editorial source check: 29 October 2026. This is educational information, not an individual clinical assessment.

The specialty directories below help you research providers in each country; they do not confirm this procedure at every centre. The receiving service confirms eligibility, availability and international-patient acceptance. Procedure-specific clinical references are listed separately.
