Before your appointment

Confirm the device type, monitoring needs and arrangements for ongoing device-clinic checks after returning home.

Time, hospital stay & appointments

Times are planning guides, not national averages or guaranteed schedules. They reflect published provider examples and patient guidance. The treating team confirms the individual plan, time needed near the clinic and fitness to travel. Waiting lists are not included.

Procedure or course duration
NHS example: implantation usually takes about an hour.
Hospital stay
The centre confirms day-case or inpatient care, observation and discharge criteria after assessment. Hospital nights and time needed nearby are separate.
Visits and repeat attendance
Assessment, implantation and device programming or checks are separate stages. Plan for ongoing specialist follow-up and confirm which visits must occur at the implanting centre.
Recovery and travel planning
Wound care and arm restrictions depend on the device and approach. The NHS describes a device check around 6 weeks; the implanting team sets your schedule.

Sources & finding a provider

Editorial source check: 29 October 2026. This is educational information, not an individual clinical assessment.

The specialty directories below help you research providers in each country; they do not confirm this procedure at every centre. The receiving service confirms eligibility, availability and international-patient acceptance. Procedure-specific clinical references are listed separately.
